Compact Multimedia
The Compact Multimedia Test System (MTS) by Seica is designed to offer a flexible and customizable solution capable of meeting the challenges posed by the latest market technologies. Based on three decades of experience in the testing industry, this specialized platform is dedicated to the functional testing of multimedia products.
The architecture of the Compact MTS enables the seamless integration of all necessary hardware and software resources to satisfy diverse requirements. This includes support for common communication buses such as RS232, USB, and Ethernet, automotive-specific protocols like CAN, LIN, Most, and Flexray, as well as video and audio validation and complex RF combinational testing.
ATE Resources
Like all Seica systems, the Compact MTS is based on the Seica VIP platform, which represents a fully integrated combination of advanced technology and simplicity of use, enabling high-performance in-circuit and functional testing. The sophisticated integrated measurement system, driven by the proprietary ACL module and based on DSP technology, executes measurements and conditions while managing signals in a fully automatic mode. The platform includes full parallel test capability, which serves as an important feature of the system. This solution enables true parallel testing of up to four jobs, running completely simultaneously and independently.
Video Analysis
The list of video technologies used in modern consumer electronic devices is constantly increasing, including Blu-ray Disc, HD DVD, 1080p, HDMI, DVI, S-Video, LVDS, and CVBS standards. The Compact MTS integrates advanced solutions to accurately capture analog signals with high-resolution digitizers, while simultaneously capturing or generating digital video interfaces. The inherent flexibility of the system allows manufacturers to keep up with new video standards while meeting aggressive time-to-market and price targets.
Audio Signal Validation
Closely related to video testing, audio signal analysis is performed on the Compact MTS using software that manages both the integrated Seica instrumentation and additional external instruments. The system generates and measures analog signals to evaluate THD levels and signal-to-noise ratios, and it decodes digital audio signals such as S/PDIF or I2S. Parallel acquisition of different audio channels can also be configured to increase overall test throughput.
Radio Frequency Analysis
Considering that RF devices are now integrated into a wide range of products, from wearables to high-definition mobile phones and automotive applications, the automated test system is designed to easily allocate the required instrumentation and the proper handling solution for signal routing and management. While the integration of advanced instruments is essential, the design of the shielded fixture solution represents a key differentiator to reach optimal performance and lower the cost of testing. Validation for BT, Wifi, cell phones, GPS, RFID, and ZigBee is a standard capability of the Compact MTS.
Communication Buses
As communication speeds have increased and electronics have expanded into safety-critical areas, a significant shift in technology has occurred. The flexible hardware and software architecture of the Compact MTS provides advanced integrated solutions, supporting RS232 serial buses, automotive communication protocols such as CAN (up to 500Kbps), LIN, Electrical and Optical MOST, and FlexRay operating at 10Mbps, while reaching high throughput standards over Ethernet.
The Compact Line is designed to offer maximum configurability, enabling users to choose the most suitable setup for their application—whether an in-circuit tester, a functional test bench, or a fully automated solution integrated directly into the production line.
Innovation, High Performance, Flexibility and Throughput
Engineered according to lean production principles, the Compact Line specifically addresses the needs of electronic board manufacturing environments.
It is ergonomically refined and technologically competitive, delivering high flexibility, excellent measurement accuracy, fast test execution, and minimal footprint, all with low power consumption to provide a cutting-edge and sustainable solution.
Compact systems are ideal for:
1. Analog and digital in-circuit testing
2. Analog, digital and power functional testing
3. Boundary Scan testing
4. Digital device programming (microcontrollers, memories, etc.)
5. High-voltage testing
Focused on optimizing test costs, the Compact Line emphasizes space reduction, reduced test times, and minimized waste, while remaining fully compatible with test programs and fixtures from the Strategy Line.
Every Compact Line system is built on the Seica VIP Platform, which includes ACL synthesized drive/sense instruments and the VIVA test management software. When required, Compact systems can also be controlled using alternative software suites such as National Instruments LabVIEW™, LabWindows™/CVI, or TestStand™.
If new requirements arise for performance or ergonomics, Seica can deliver customized Compact solutions, integrating third-party tools or developing dedicated hardware and software modules tailored to the customer's specific needs.
