HCT2-200-21

Digital Hot Air Pencil, 220-240V

The HCT2-200-21 Hot Air Pencil is a digital handheld convection tool ideally suited for light rework applications involving smaller components and integrated circuits.

As component miniaturization continues, particularly with 01005 components, the ergonomics of a pencil design grant users greater freedom to access and rework components on the board without affecting adjacent parts. In contrast, larger handheld convection systems commonly reflow and dislodge neighboring components due to a higher minimum airflow.

The HCT2 series of Digital Hot Air Pencils features an array of nozzle sizes and precision control. The improved thermal performance of the HCT2-200 allows users to target a broader variety of components. Furthermore, working under a microscope is simplified with the optional bent nozzles. Adding this tool to a workbench delivers significantly improved performance.

This system was developed for very small surface mount components and package sizes, specifically 1206s and smaller, as well as low board densities. For denser PCBAs, applications with heavy copper planes, boards with more than 4 layers, or components larger than 5mm, using a Metcal preheater from the PCT-100 series may be necessary.

Features and Benefits

Features and Benefits The 200 Watt Ceramic Heater and Dual-Stage Air Pump provide the exact power and performance required to deliver the optimal amount of thermal energy. Digital Airflow & Temperature Controls feature two LED displays that provide both a graphical and numerical representation of the desired airflow and temperature. Designed for fast response and performance, a microprocessor-controlled, closed-loop feedback system ensures rapid heating along with precise and stable temperature control.
When the handpiece is placed into the workstand, the system initiates a Standby Mode where the temperature drops to prolong heater life. The replaceable handpiece has been redesigned to allow convenient removal from the front of the unit. Additionally, this ergonomic and light weight handpiece features a slim design with a rubber grip that feels just like a pencil. Users can easily change heaters, nozzles, and handpieces in moments. For versatile applications, six nozzles ranging from 1.5 mm to 4.0 mm are included with the unit, complete with a nozzle plate holder integrated inside the workstand.
