CV-5210 Connection Validation Soldering Station
The CV-5210 offers advanced process control by combining Connection Validation™ (CV) and SmartHeat® technologies. This innovation has led the industry for decades, beginning with SmartHeat® fixed-temperature technology. The system automatically adjusts power levels during each soldering operation, maintaining accurate and consistent soldering temperatures. SmartHeat® delivers reliable process control at the molecular level.
The technology integrated into every Metcal SmartHeat® system ensures that soldering and rework are always performed at safe, controlled temperatures. Users know that moderate fixed temperatures, where power is varied, provide the best assurance for a well-controlled soldering and rework process.
Connection Validation™ (CV) technology evaluates the quality of the solder joint by calculating the intermetallic compound formation and provides closed-loop feedback to the operator. This feedback is delivered via the LED light ring integrated into the handpiece. It mitigates the risks associated with variables in soldering activities, removing the qualitative determination of a good solder joint from the operator’s subjective judgment. By introducing an objective method to evaluate quality, CV complements the operator’s skill. This systemic and objective approach provides excellent repeatability and a measurable standard for the entire soldering process.
The system features SmartHeat® Power-on-Demand Technology alongside patented Connection Validation™ IMC Formation Technology. It is equipped with a 2.8” color touchscreen that provides bold graphics for clear visibility. A built-in Communications Port is available for process traceability data and firmware upgrades. The unit provides a precise tip temperature display and includes an integrated Net Power Meter with a power graph.
Utilizing patented Chip-in-Cartridge technology, it enables closed-loop bi-directional communication. This technology stores and records cartridge attributes while providing vital traceability information. It also protects the power supply from non-conforming cartridges. Furthermore, the system is backwards compatible with MX Series power supplies and includes password protection for enhanced security.
