Electrical testing and IC programming address two essential tasks in electronics production: verifying circuit behavior and loading the data needed by programmable devices. The required equipment depends on the board design, device family and manufacturing sequence.
In-circuit testing checks selected electrical characteristics, while functional testing evaluates behavior under operating conditions. Flying probe systems provide flexible access without a dedicated bed-of-nails fixture for every design. Bare-board testing addresses PCB connections before assembly. IC programming can take place before placement or at another suitable stage.
A test strategy should define access points, coverage and the failures that need to be detected. Programming requirements add device support, data verification and handling considerations. Cycle time and traceability matter when the equipment is used in production, but should be reviewed alongside test completeness and maintainability.
